Incident Details
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted a felony traffic stop around 5:38 p.m. near Beneva Road and Webber Road. Cody Burrow, who had an active felony warrant for narcotics, was identified as the driver of a grey Ford F-150. During the attempted stop, Cody’s vehicle collided with a Tesla and several deputies’ vehicles, resulting in injuries to one deputy.

Despite the collision, Cody fled the scene, driving northbound on Beneva Road. At approximately 5:47 p.m., deputies responded to reports of another crash near Lockwood Ridge Road and 53rd Street, roughly six miles from the initial stop. Upon arrival, they discovered Cody’s Ford F-150 had crashed into a utility pole. He was alone in the vehicle and did not survive the crash.
